The number of buildings under construction in Dubai during the past year, 2023, increased by 18.5%, bringing the total to about 15,722 buildings, compared to the year 2022, in which it reached 13,273 buildings.
According to data from the Dubai Statistics Center – Dubai Digital, quoted from Dubai Municipality, “villas”, both private and investment, accounted for 85% of the total buildings under construction in the emirate, with 13,380 villas. The data showed that the number of private villas under construction increased from 6,171 villas in 2022, to 8,627 villas in 2023, an increase of 40%, while representing 55% of the number of buildings under construction in 2023.
The number of investment villas increased by 1% to 4,752 villas, compared to 4,704 villas in 2022, and they account for 30% of the buildings under construction in Dubai. Industrial buildings increased by 3.7% in 2023 to 535 buildings, compared to 516 buildings, which represents 3.5% of the number of buildings under construction. The number of public buildings under construction increased by 3.5% to 828 buildings (representing 5.2% of the total), compared to 800 buildings in 2022.
On the other hand, the number of multistory buildings under construction in Dubai decreased by 9.5%, to 980 buildings (6.2% of the total), compared to 1,082 buildings in 2022.
