Dubai is the Fourth in the World in “Skyscrapers”

Dubai has been ranked fourth in the world among cities with the most skyscrapers, according to data from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.

The list highlights cities with more than 30 completed skyscrapers, spanning from Asia to North America, and are vital hubs for finance, trade and innovation, driving economic growth in their countries.

Dubai has outperformed a number of major global cities such as the Japanese capital Tokyo, and Shanghai in China, while Hong Kong and Shenzhen in China, and New York in the United States, topped the list.

A skyscraper is defined as a tall building that can be lived in permanently, exceeding 150 metres in height and containing more than 40 floors. This list ranks the cities with the largest number of skyscrapers of this height until August 2024.

Hong Kong tops the list, followed by fast-growing Chinese cities such as Shenzhen and Shanghai, while New York City represents the United States. Dubai is famous for its futuristic skyline, home to 263 skyscrapers, including the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. The city’s rapid development and architectural innovation make it a symbol of modern luxury and ambition, attracting tourists and businesses from all over the world.

The top 10 cities by number of skyscrapers are Hong Kong, which ranks first with 558 skyscrapers; Shenzhen, China, which includes a fast-growing technology hub in China, with 414 skyscrapers; New York City, USA, which includes 318 skyscrapers; Dubai, which is famous among the world’s cities for its futuristic skyline, with 263 skyscrapers; Shanghai, China, which represents its skyline with 194 skyscrapers; Guangzhou, China, which includes 193 skyscrapers; Tokyo, Japan, which includes 176 skyscrapers; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which includes 174 skyscrapers; Wuhan, China, which includes 169 skyscrapers; and finally Chongqing, China, where Chongqing’s 145 skyscrapers highlight its position as a major city in southwestern China.
